Equipment Operator

As an Equipment Operator at Bayard Construction Group, you’ll be at the controls of the machines that make progress possible. From excavators to skid steers, you’ll operate heavy equipment to support grading, trenching, site prep, and utility installation across a variety of commercial construction projects.
This role is perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, safety-focused, and takes pride in precision work. You’ll be expected to understand site plans, communicate with your crew, and keep projects moving efficiently and responsibly. Responsibilities:
Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, and other equipment safely and efficiently
Execute grading, trenching, backfilling, and loading operations
Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
Support crews with utility installation and earthwork tasks
Follow site plans, grades, and layout instructions
Uphold all safety policies and maintain clean, organized equipment
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction
Familiarity with grading, trenching, and excavation practices
Ability to read and understand site drawings and grade stakes
Strong awareness of job site safety and communication protocols
Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus
